My labor story - 48 hours, No epidural!

I went into labor the 14th at 930 ish am. 34 weeks and 3-4 days. After tracking my contractions for an hour I knew that he was ready to come! So I had my husband rush to the hospital with me. Meanwhile my grandma went to my baby shower I was supposed to have that day with my mom and they ran it for a few hours while I went through my first few hours of labor.
My husband got a bit of a talking to since he was sleeping a lot during the labor, at one point I even made him leave and considered not having him come back because I was flusterated that he was sleeping so much but I called him finally when the pain was getting bad and he came up to go through it with me. (he completely pulled through for me in the end though, he was right next to me while I was pushing out my little man and he even was a champ when he got yelled at 😂)
After about 36-40 hours I quit accepting the fentanyl they were offering for pain. I took 5-6 doses during labor, although I had them give me half of what they normally would and then still asked for half again 😂 the nurse was like "this is half a dose" and gave it to me. Thats about when I said no more 😂
So for my last 8 hours while at 7.5-8cm dialated I quit taking any pain pills and refused an epidural. I wanted to do it naturally.
My water refused to break so finally the nurses told the doctor that I NEEDED my water broke, the sac was to thick for him to pop through. The relief when they broke my water was immense!! From there it was GO time!
So I started pushing, they had my feet in the stirrups and had a nurse holding one leg my husband holding the other but I was so uncomfortable that I said fuck it and took my own legs, brought them up to my stomach and used them to help push by pulling them in closer every time I pushed. Issue is the baby was coming out like a cannonball! He came out feet and head first! At the point he crowned my grandma told my husband "talk to her" and this man started telling me "oh here his head comes" and I just yelled " SHUT THE FUCK UP!" 🤣 I didnt wanna know what was coming out I just wanted him out!
The PA that was helping me was quickly pushed out of the way by the MD when she saw his head and feet coming at the same time and she quickly stuck a needle in to numb me and cut me so he could get out. I had a second where I said I cant do it but this amazing doctor turned into a drill sargent and went "PUSH" then when I didnt want the oxygen on me she said "Put that back on your baby needs it!!" And I put it right back on!!
After 12 minutes of pushing, on 5/16 at 912am he was out! It was a wonderful feeling and once the placenta was also out I felt like I had been cleansed from the inside 😂
Since hes early he is in the nicu but thats part of why I was in labor so long, they had me take 2 steroid shots, were trying to keep my labor active until 130pm that day since each one was a 24 hour shot. The nurses kept urging me to get an epidural to try and slow the labor down even more but I am so happy I didnt get it! I now know exactly what my body is capable of and for the first time in my life after seeing this beautiful human I made, I feel beautiful. If my body can create perfection then it must have some beauty to it.
I love my labor story, and i love my little family! Thanks for reading!

Me and the loves of my life after birth. This man and this baby boy are my world and I love sharing them 😍🥰
