Umbilical granuloma

Courtney

My baby will be 6 weeks old this week and her umbilical chord fell off between 2-3 weeks and left behind an umbilical granuloma. Her doctor saw it at her one month check up, cleaned it and told us to come back if it was leaking anything. It was so I went back in the next day (this was last Monday and Tuesday) Tuesday she cleaned it, dried it, and used silver nitrate for the first time and said the same thing, if it looks wet come back in. So the next day it was still wet I called and they couldn’t see me until Thursday. This time we went in and all she did was clean and dry it. Then gave me an ointment prescription, but said don’t use it unless the skin around the belly button gets red and also gave me a paper to take to the hospital to get an ultrasound done on it only if the skin around it got red. Well it’s been a week later and it’s still there. It isn’t red around the belly button or anything. I’m just wondering if I should try and get a second opinion from another doctor because I don’t want it to get infected. I keep seeing people say their doctors did anywhere from 1-6 rounds of silver nitrate but my doctor apparently won’t. Just super frustrated.
