Makena Allergy? Infection? Something else?

Hi friends.

I’m currently 21 weeks with my rainbow baby boy. I lost my daughter at 18 weeks after PPROM at 15 weeks. I’ve been doing the Makena shot for the last five weeks.

This passed Thursday I noticed red patches on the backs of both my arms where I receive the shots. I went to urgent care and was told to follow up with OB. I did, and was sent to an emergency allergist. He said that it seemed like this was a latent reaction to Makena. He said that it is okay to continue the shots in that case, since they’ve been working so well for me.

So, I had my next shot. I was told to do Benadryl and hydrocortisone.

This is the state of my arms. I’m concerned that I have some sort of infection going on or something. My husband is trying to talk me down by saying it’s in the same spots as my shots, but I’m still scared. I’m planning on seeing my PCP in the morning.

Any thoughts? I’m terrified to lose another baby.

Top photos are from about 4:30 PM, bottom photos are now at 2:00 AM. I definitely see a difference but my husband doesn’t. I turned flash on for the bottom pictures for a more accurate color of the skin.
