Hcg blood tests

So I've been for a hcg test that the Dr sent me for after I had a little bit of spotting. Rang for the results and the receptionist said I need to make an appointment for a telephone consultation tomorrow. I'm really worried now but surely they wouldn't tell me I'd lost my baby over the phone?! Is this just what they do?? I'm in Swansea if that makes a difference x
