Baby not chewing solids

Hello everyone!!

My baby is 10 and half month old. We started with purees after he turned 8 months we started offering finger food such as sweet potato, omelette, avacado etc. But he always was gagging and puking we were really terrified after then we decided to wait bit longer but now he kind of rejects spoonfeeding its really hard to feed him. I am finger food now but he puts big bite in his mouth then vomits. Because he is chewing it just swallowing the whole piece. How can I make him learn chewing. I dont want to cut back on brestmilk until he is year old. I feel terrible I thing I feel like failure.
