How on earth do you make friends as an adult?!?!?!

Honestly, I don't have a clue.. 
Due to lots of different circumstances, I don't have any close friends around me and that is really getting to me. 
I work from home and I live with my boyfriend who I feel is my only friend tbh, so how on earth can I make new friends??

I met a lot of people through young professional organizations like Rotary, Junior League, and other young professionals groups and events. I also joined Meet Up, and reached out to people. It took being proactive and forward, taking some chances and putting myself out there.

I've made friends through my hobbies and volunteering. For example, I always take this fun exercise class and it's usually the same group who consistently show up because our instructor is awesome, so we've all become friends. I've also met friends doing volunteer work for good causes. I feel like that is one of the easiest ways to make friends, at least in my experience.
