Two consecutive egg retrievals?

Question

Has anyone done a back to back egg retrieval cycles? 
Was the second cycle better than first? 
Was the recovery similar after second one? 
Were you able to do an FET right after that second egg retrieval? 
So many unknowns, so thank you all for answering any of these! 💝

I’m trying to do 2 back-to-back cycles but they made me wait an additional month between because embryology staff was at capacity. They changed my protocol slightly for the 2nd round. I was put on estrogen primer at LH surge and my cycle is currently 5 days late so undetermined if I can still do the 2nd retrieval anytime soon. Going to clinic tomorrow to see what’s going on. My first retrieval in April resulted in 6 eggs retrieved, 4 blasts and 2 PGT normal embryos frozen. Was hoping to get at least 1 more normal embryo soon in case FETs don’t work out. I’m 43 so it’s best I batch embryos now before moving to a transfer.

To answer your last question. Yes, at most clinics you can do a FET after a second cycle provided your estrogen isn’t too high and you’re not at risk for OHSS. If there’s are risk for OHSS you’ll likely have to wait a month because pregnancy makes OHSS symptoms worse.

I did 2 retrievals back to back a few years ago. And I’m doing 2 retrievals back to back right now. I am on a month break between them at the moment since I was overstimulated from the first retrieval I have to wait for my ovaries to settle down before doing another one. 3 years ago my second retrieval was much more successful because we learned what to do/not to do during the first (unsuccessful) retrieval. This year my first retrieval was successful since we had the experience from 3 years ago. We do not do an FET right away since we do pgs testing. I will also do an era prior to FET this year.
