Do you think it’s a good idea or not

Hi,
I’m 30 weeks pregnant with my baby #2. My husband has been suggesting that we go for a road trip during the long weekend. I tried telling him that it’s not a good idea as I’ll be 32 weeks while we go for that trip saying that it’s risky for me and is gonna make me sick considering my elder one is 22 months old who is super cranky when it comes to traveling. But he has been constantly trying to convince me saying he will take good care of me and will do everything to keep me comfortable. That trip is gonna be almost like 10 hrs long and I know it’s definitely gonna be very exhausting for me. Though I’m healthy and have no complications so far I’m really worried if such a long trip would cause any harm. He promised me he would do a lot of stop overs in case if I feel uncomfortable but I’m not sure. What do you guys think??

A trip sounds nice. Should be doable at 32 weeks depending on how you feel. But 10 hours would be more than I could do. I wouldn't be able to travel comfortably for that long and neither will the toddler.
I would pick a destination closer 😅

Oh hell no! I wouldn’t do it! This is also my second pregnancy, and it’s so much worse than the first one. Not to mention toddler care on top of it! Plus it’s hot as balls where I am. We had to cancel our weekend long camping trip last weekend because I knew I couldn’t do it! That would be a hard pass for me!

I personally stopped traveling in March. I had gone on a 4 hour trip one way and my hips and back were hurting so bad. I was 20 weeks at the time and was miserable the whole weekend I was traveling. It took me like a week to recover and I found out a few days later I had placenta previa (not sure if it’s related) but due to the pain and that I was higher risk I decided it would be best for me to not travel. Now I’m 34 weeks with gestational diabetes that requires monitoring twice a week. Thankfully my placenta previa has resolved but I can’t walk or stand for more than 10 minutes without feeling faint. So there is still no traveling for me anytime soon. Only you can tell how your body is and how it will handle the travel so trust your instincts.

We drove 15 hours when I was 30 weeks with our 5 year old and 2 year old. It was a great trip. Extra stops and made sure I had room to stretch out when needed. Sounds like he wants to take you in a trip to relax sounds nice!

We are about to take a two week trip. Probably a total of about 30+ hours of driving. But we planned for only 4-5 hours of driving for the days we drive, which will make it easier on 30 week mama, 2 year old and 15 year old. I’m not worried about it at all 🤷🏼‍♀️ but everybody is different. I wouldn’t be going if I was uncomfortable or worried about it.

I would go.  I would just make sure you stop often.  Also run it by your OB incase, but I definitely it could be fun, and it would be nice to get away!

I dont think the timing is a concern. But if you are uncomfortable with it your partner should listen! Only recommendation I have, if you do it, is to take FREQUENT stops to stretch, move, pee, etc... make it about the journey and stops more than about the destination...especially with a kiddo under 2!

I’m going on an 8 hour trip next month at about 33 weeks and I don’t know if I’ll be able to drive. I might take a train because I can barely stand to sit in the drivers seat for an hour, let alone 8.

I drove from FL to MA for my shower at 30 weeks. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Do what makes you comfortable but that’s a 24 hour drive. We split it into two 12 hour days. It wasn’t terrible but we also don’t have a toddler and we also do this trip annually and usually straight through. So for us it was an easy trip. Just saying it can be done.
