Doctor's appointments?

Liv

Hi all. I'm a first-timer to all this. I contacted the doctor's surgery I'm registered at, expecting to be given an appointment and maybe some blood tests, but I was just told to "come in and pick up a leaflet". The leaflet was a web address for signing up for a midwife at the local hospital. The receptionist confirmed that my doctors "don't do" appointment for pregnancy.

My doctor's surgery is notoriously rubbish at most things, but this is unexpected. Please will you tell me if this is standard behaviour?

I haven't heard back from the hospital yet.

I haven't told anyone other than my partner yet, because I haven't had any professional insight, so I'm feeling a little isolated!
