Baby Aspirin, Preeclamsia ?

Question

Has anyone else’s OB mentioned taking baby aspirin to prevent preeclampsia without actually being high risk for it or having any symptoms?? I declined but, was just curious to know if any of you ladies do take it or have before?

Yes and you should just take it to be honest. You don't have to be in a high risk category to  develop it but the baby aspirin helps make that chance even lower. I take it with my prenatal and extra iron to help with blood loss.

I think if you’ve had Covid they also recommend it. I am high risk for preeclampsia since first baby had it. But never had Covid.

I'm on it for my second time.  I had post preeclampsia with my first.  My second they put me on it and blood pressure meds because my bp was high.  This one my bp is fine but they want to be cautious.

I have been taking it since 16 weeks as in previous pregnancy baby had growth restrictions, so it’s to prevent it happening again. I’m to stop at 36 weeks but I think if it’s to prevent pre-eclampsia it’s recommended to take it till birth. It is causing me really bad reflux though so I sometimes skip a couple of days. My first growth scan is tomorrow so we’ll see if it’s all worth it.

I did not take it with my first, nor was it recommended. I have a different doctor now and she prescribed me low dose aspirin at the beginning of my pregnancy for
Preventive purposes. I take it when I can remember lol

I've been taking it since 12 weeks bc my BMI is high, my BP is high, and I've had Covid before which could lead to blood clots. I've definitely noticed a downward trend in my BP since I started taking it and my OB is happy with the progress but I still may have to be induced.

When I was pregnant with my daughter they had me start it around 24 weeks as my BP was starting to steadily go up. When I looked it up before starting it everything I read was that it was becoming more common to be recommended to many pregnant woman and would likely become a standard recommendation in all pregnancies eventually because the benefits greatly outweighed the risks. I did develop preeclampsia with her during labor. This time they had me start it at 11 weeks since I have a history of preeclampsia and I am also on BP meds now. Thankfully so far my BP has been good at every visit.

I take low dose aspirin because I have had recurrent early miscarriages. My consultant said I can stop at 12 weeks but my midwife said it's best if I continue until 36 weeks because it prevents other issues too. I had COVID at 10 weeks as well. So that's one more reason
