Cramping & Bowel Movement

I've been having to use the bathroom a lot lately and everytime I have a bowel movement the top of stomach cramps very hard. At my 36 week (I'll be 37 weeks Thursday) doctors appointment yesterday my doctor told me I was 2.5 centimeters. Anyone else experiencing this? What do you think it could be?
