Can My Dr Refuse To Induce Me If I Feel I Can't Or Just Don’t Want To Push Out An Almost 10-11 Pound Baby??

post.…. last pregnancy(2021) baby was
smaller than current baby & they made
it a big deal that i NEEDED to be induced
because of his size (8 Ibs 14 Oz) but
deny the bigger baby induction? That
doesn't make sense to me but hmm i
guess 🤷🏼‍♀️ I Will Be 39 Weeks Next Week !

Technically yes depending on how many weeks you are. If they do you can always seek a different hospital who will. Just be safe your health overall is important as well as baby

Yes, of course. You can't force a doctor to just provide whatever medical treatment you want. Though, you can refuse any medical treatment you want.

Yes. You cant force them to induce you. You shouldn't want to be i duced esrly anyway, a big babys not a legitimate medical reason. I had an almost 11 pounder at 38 weeks. I got induced because my preeclampsia got way bad. Your dr can and has indicsted they will refuse to induce you esrly. Those last final weeks are really important for babys lung devolopment and devolopment. So just deal with a big baby potential

Yes they can refuse: You can’t just demand a doctor perform an elective induction because inductions increase medical risks and risk of additional interventions, and some insurance won’t even cover the birth then without a medical indication for the induction. However, some doctors may be more open to it if you are a minimum of 39 weeks. 
You can always ask but also do your research on the risks/benefits. Also understand that ultrasound measurements are notoriously incorrect at the end of pregnancy. They can legit be 2-3 lbs off. Research I’ve read also says that babies size is not “genetic” so much as that actually in most cases they don’t grow bigger than mom’s body can anatomically push out. Of course there are exceptions like diabetes can cause babies to be bigger. Just learn more and talk to your doctor. I did have one friend who asked for an early one and she got it, and it did go well - but know that inductions are more successful when you are already effaced, dilated and ready to go into labor naturally. If you aren’t, you are putting yourself at higher risk of adverse symptoms and interventions like surgery.

My doctor wouldn't induce unless medically necessary. He also wouldn't schedule a C-section until 39 weeks. I had two due to size of the baby. First was 11lbs2oz and second was 9lbs13oz.
