Hair down there

I my preference when it comes to hair down there is to wax my bikini line and trim the rest. This is just what works for me. However, the hairs around my vagina area are really prickly and I’m kinda insecure about it. Is that a turnoff for partners? I am still a virgin but the guy I’m dating has mentioned that he wants to give me head (when I’m ready ofc) but I’m scared. What if the prickly hair is gross to him? Or what if it smells bad/tastes bad?
