Unregulated toxic products being sold on Amazon

In light of another post I saw recently in parenting, what are your thoughts of unregulated items on Amazon and other retailers? There are many studies on what exactly these toys/clothes/everyday items contain, and many have been found to be extremely toxic to our health and the environment. Many containing many times the legal limit of lead, cadmium, phthalates, fire-retardants, all sorts of substances. Should Amazon crack down on unregulated third-party sellers? Pay heavy fines for hosting these goods? How would we go about educating the public on this issue, and getting regulation in place?
