My first birth!

Induction was today, went in thinking we were going to do a gel but was told I was already 100% effaced and 5 cm dilated! So we started a drip instead around 8am. Nothing was happening so I had my water broken at 12. It was dark yellow and as it had meconium in it so we were hoping things would start to move faster. Contractions started so slow I couldn’t even tell I was having them, then got to the point where I was wanting an epidural right then and there, with the shortage I was thankful I got one. Had it upped when the contractions were still too strong with the lower dose. Doctor came in and checked and I was 9 3/4 dilated, could feel baby’s head with just your fingertip! Started pushing and baby’s heart rate started to drop, had an episiotomy to help her come quicker. Once her head was out we realized the cord was wrapped around her neck so it had to be cut before she was completely out. Was born at 3:04, 7Ibs 0oz! She was put on my chest for about 2 minutes but still wasn’t making much noise so doctor took her and suctioned her nose and mouth. She had moved down so quickly it actually caused me an internal tear, but after I got stitched up everything was great! Was in labour for 7 hours, pushed her out in 10 minutes. Was overall really happy with the first birth experience. 😊
