Monkeypox - I got in trouble at work

So as we all have heard I’m sure, Monkeypox is surging across the globe. In the US right now they only offering the vaccine to homosexual men because they are at highest risk of transmission, at least they are in my state/hospital. 95% of cases in the US have been in gay men. I am in healthcare and work at a hospital. On Friday we had a staff meeting and some people spoke up and felt like it was unethical to only offer the vaccine to gay men and it should be available to everyone who wants it. I responded that it probably will soon but right now it seems to be largely only within the gay community. After the meeting I got pulled to the side and got told I was being written up for a homophobic statement. I was SO confused and still am. I literally don’t understand how pointing out that this disease is mostly affecting gay men right now is wrong or homophobic? Even the CDC is reporting that.
