Ammonia smell

My husband thinks I'm just going crazy because I'm pregnant but I swear I smell amonia on the microfiber inserts no matter what I try to do to clean them, clean my washing machine (which I do on a regular basis anyways). I hang everything outside, otherwise inside when weather is bad. Baking soda, hot, cold, warm water, vinegar, different detergents, they are both washed seperatly. I swear I still smell it. He swears they do not smell. They get cleaned every other day, which is about 8-12 ish each wash. I tried to add some of our junk towels to get more water in my washer. I'm seriously out of ideas. The only thing I haven't tried is bleach because I'm horrifically allergic to it, ammonia free or not, the moment its open my eyes and skin burn and may as well melt off. And no, I wouldn't make a difference if my husband added it, I still react to it upstairs whenever its merely opened. I left the house for a few days when he had to bleach the walls and floors (trench system for water, gets gross down there.)

Help? This is our 3rd month, daughter is 19 months, if any of that is relevant or helpful at all.

No detergents build up, have done swish test a few times with various methods I've read online to get the smell out. I'm having my mother come smell them tomorrow to confirm either I'm losing my mind and my husbands right, or my husbands sense of smell isn't as good!
