I wanna tell y’all the fallen baby BIRD STORY
One day when I got home from work I walked up to chaos in my yard.
What kind of chaos?
Well first I saw a bird dive bombing one of my roosters. Flying real fast and hard and EEEK EEK EEKING at him. I investigate and find a baby bird on the ground near one of the tiers of my boat trailer. It was not a fledgling, it had feathers but was still bald in some places and definitely not ready. When you see a baby bird on the ground and it’s fully fledged you leave it alone because the parents are nearby and that’s how they teach babies to fly is by kicking them out. But this baby had clearly fallen by accident and needed help or it would die.
I know what people are about to say. “You can’t touch baby birds because the mom will smell your scent and abandon the baby.” -horse shit. Birds have little if any sense of smell and are mothers to their core, and will fight another bird 20x it’s size to protect a fallen baby. They will never leave a nest unless their babies have died. Her baby had fallen and she was still protecting it.
The rooster who I have named Timothy (I find it hilarious to name my animal human names)
He was BEEFING with this baby bird. Chickens and especially roosters are territorial as hell, it is the roosters instinctual job to protect his hens.
So picture this. Tim is trying to peck at this baby bird like “what’s good I know you ain’t up here in my house.” While baby’s mom is like “I KNOW YOU AINT HERE MESSING WITH MY KID I GOT WINGS B*ITCH I CAN FLY AND PECK YOU, GET AT ME.”
Timothy is horrified and is running around my yard while momma bird is coming in dive bombing the hell out of him and trying to peck his head off.
The HENS are running around and bocking all panicked and running around in circles because their man and protector is getting his ass WHOOPED by a momma bird.
I look all up in the trees until I see a nest. Luckily it was a big tree easy to climb and the nest wasn’t far up. I climbed up the tree, and no I’m not kidding I really did climb a tree as a grown ass woman, to see if I had the correct nest before I did all the effort of holding a baby while climbing a tree. While I’m doing this I, am, and NO KIDDING, slapped in my ear by this PISSED OFF MOMMA. I’m literally up in the trees getting bitch slapped by a bird like “AHHHHHHH”
And i slid down and she went back to fuck up timothys life some more and dominate him infront of all of his wives.
Found the nest and rest of babies. Check
I grab the baby and head up the tree. I’m dive bombed again, 3 more times, but managed to safely secure the baby in the nest with the rest of the babies and mom left me alone. I watched for a few days of her going back and forth feeding them and then just went on with my life.
I hope they’re happy and healthy birds now and I hope Timothy learned his lesson about being mean to other birds babies LOL
I’ll tell y’all this story since I seem to have the worst luck with birds. My laundry room can only be accessed outside my house and one day I opened my laundry room door and a bird randomly flew in and the door shut behind me. The bird flew into the door, then into my face so many damn times that i couldn’t get to the door to let it out because my eyeballs were being smacked by a damn bird. It was scared a panicked and I was just in my laundry room just screaming until my SO came out and opened the door to free me and the bird from hell.
