What does 68th percentile mean?

I’m 34 weeks 1 day according to the ultrasound today baby is measuring 35 weeks and 6 days and the dr says he is in the 68th percentile. I’m confused what all this means honestly. Does this mean he’s gonna be big?

Not necessarily, he’s a little larger then average. However ultrasounds are Notorious for ￼over estimating babies weight, resulting in some unnecessary inductions and c-sections, so I would not stress.

68th percentile means he is bigger than 68% of babies at same GA. 50th is ‘average’ so hes not big at all, if they are under 10th percentile you worry about IUGR. But 68 is about perfect. Once you get above the 80th percentile you start worrying about a big baby. Anything 90+is going to be a very big baby

That's only an estimate, don't worry so long as baby is growing, healthy and you are healthy that's it.

I was 68% too at 33+6. Said she’s a bit above average in weight. But yeah it’s just an estimate. I also have GD but my belly is measuring small..
