Call out of work?

Been working part time there since April, called out once and took off a day in advance once. Im off from school this week and my bf is off from work… we both want to go to NYC for the day. should I call out?? I have anxiety over this cuz I always feel so bad but it just would be convenient to have the day off and enjoy my time off from school. what do y’all think?

No. You need a job more than you need a day off. You also havent been employed long, taking days off looks really bad especially because your so new

Is it possible to switch shifts with someone in advance? That way you aren’t losing hours and calling out, but you still get to to spend the day with you boyfriend

No go another day. If your work finds out that's the reason then you'll lose your job and it's not worth it

Ask your boss if it’s okay, but DONT go if they seem upset or skeptical about it. However, if they think they can make it work and you can make up the hours, then I see no reason not to. Really read them and don’t ask for pay for that day.

I personally wouldn’t. You have only been there 4/5 months and already taken two days off, you don’t want to call in again for a “skip” day. I am all for not allowing a job to consume your life and all that but you only work part time as it is, it’s your responsibility to be at work when you’re scheduled. If you take too much time off they’ll start to think you’re unreliable and that is not a good trait to have in the workforce.

Let’s put it this way. If you died, you’d be replaced the next day. Take the day off and go enjoy yourself. Life is not all about working and not being able to enjoy the little things. 🤷🏼‍♀️
