Feeling super stressed

So some people may find this kinda dumb but if you were in my shoes you would understand. So our dog passed away a little over a month ago. We were planning on getting another eventually when the time was right but we had a bit of a conflict as I wanted a smaller dog and my husband wants a big one. We live in a small condo so a small dog would be best. I was out with my parents last night and I had mentioned to them how my husband was wanting a big dog and I was trying to convince him to settle on a small breed when we eventually get one. Well it completely back fired on me and my parents flat out told me we weren’t allowed to get a dog and if we did my entire family would be very angry with me. Let’s add that I’m 32 year old mother of 2 who owns my place. I was expecting them to advise us not to get another dog but I wasn’t expecting them to tell me what I can and can’t do. Now I have this big stress of telling my husband. I know he will laugh and tell me we’re adults and can do what we want. But what he won’t understand is that my family is trying to help us buy a bigger place so I kinda have to do what they say because there’s no way we would get into anything bigger without their help and right now our family has outgrown our place. I’m honestly fine with waiting on getting a dog until we are settled into something bigger and what not but I know my husband will not be okay with that. I feel stuck in the middle and I don’t know what to do.

Edit: so the condo we are in right now my grandma co owns with me because I bought it when my son was born 10 years ago, as a single mom at the time I didn’t qualify for much so she helped me with that and then my family helped with a down payment. This will also be the case when we get a bigger place. My grandma has offered to co-sign with us so that we qualify for something more and she has offered to gift us a down payment. My parents have been helping us renovate our current place to make it nice to sell. Hence why they have so much say right now in everything. My husband is aware of the help they are offering
