Does it sound like they were scamming me?
Yesterday I was at a BP gas station. I wasn’t even there to get gas, I just needed to use the restroom but I parked at a pump (it wasn’t very crowded). A man and his girlfriend pulled up beside my car and motioned for me to roll my window down. I rolled it down and he asked me if I could buy them gas because they’re almost on empty. I told them I could only afford to buy them $10 worth of gas but that I don’t have any cash. He asked me to buy him a BP gift card. I went in and saw that they parked their car at the pump directly behind mine at pump #12, so instead of buying a gift card I just prepaid and told the cashier to put $10 on pump #12. When I went out to let them know that I put $10 on their pump, the guy told me that they wanted a gift card because their gas tank isn’t working/keeps leaking gas. I apologized and went back inside to see if I could get my money back and before I could even do that, I saw them drive off in their car, they didn’t even use the $10 on the pump. So I ran back out to my car and reversed my car to that pump to put the $10 in my car before anyone else could get to it.
Does it sound like they were trying to scam me? Their story didn’t make any sense.
