Can you ask to be induced at 39 weeks?

I’m currently just turned 38 weeks and am in absolute pain. It hurts to move, I can’t sleep and the pain is unbearable at times where I just lay and cry. Keep in mind I’m a very small girl and the baby has no room to move around so when he tries to kick I feel like he’s tearing my skin apart. I know that at 39 weeks it’s technically full term but I’m scared to ask my doctor because with every problem I have had he has said oh well it’s apart of pregnancy. I would like to get suggestions and experiences from y’all before I go in to my doctors appointment.

OB Doctors would like you to go as long as you can unless you have medical issues for your first baby. My first I was 42 weeks and still had to be induced. My second she was born at 37 weeks. This baby I asked to be induced at 39 weeks and my doctor said yes.

My doctors office lets women get induced at 39weeks. I did. Well, was supposed to but they screwed up the paperwork and the hospital wouldn’t take me that day so I made them schedule me a C for that day lol

Totally depends, so I say ask! My last OB wouldn’t induce until 41 weeks. This one is letting me get induced at 39 weeks. I also have a history of 2 healthy pregnancies/babies/labors. So I’m not sure if it would matter if this is your first. It won’t hurt to ask, though!

You can definitely ask what options they would offer. Maybe they would do a membrane sweep or a foley bulb as a way to get things rolling? Non-medicated and medicated inductions are very different, and hopefully they can hear your concerns and give you some good options.

Depends where you are. I'm in so much pain and I have a heart condition that is being exaggerated due to pregnancy. I feel absolutely shit. But the consultant refuses to do my planned csection (I had three previous csections). Before 39 weeks. 
I was exactly the same as I am now with my second and they refused to induce me before 10 days past due date. I had my second daughter 41+5 and it was my very worst pregnancy.

Could you ask for a membrane sweep to see if that gets things started? You could ask but not all doctors and hospitals offer elective inductions . You could ask if they do and then go from there . Regardless you’re almost there!! Baby will come out soon. I hope he listens to your feelings and can offer some sort of advice if they won’t allow it .
