Membrane sweep question

Or questions... is this something everyone has done? I have an appointment tomorrow, I'll be 38 + 2 - do you think I can request a membrane sweep or is it to early? My last appointment last week I was only 1cm so not sure if this has progressed. I also have another appointment, which isnt with the gynecologist on Tuesday, to check babies weight. I doubt they'll go ahead with induction, as they were supposed to do it last Tuesday, if baby never progressed in growth.

I'm aware some sweeps are not successful. This is my first time being pregnant, so not sure if it's standard practice that they sweep you.
