Question

i’m 19 and i just started my first period ever, my mom isn’t much help and this is freaking me out. what do i do what do i buy.. i feel like a lost puppy and just there’s blood everywhere. i guess there’s some stuff on my wishlist but i just don’t know if it’s the right things.. im so confused i just keep crying i feel so sick and there’s just blood everywhere.. i need help

I’d start off with pads until you get the hang of your period. 
They have both thin & chunky pads. I’d recommend YOU the thinner pads rather than the big bulky pads since you’re only beginning. 
Pads go by numbers 1-6 which determines the length of the pad itself & the blood flow. The smaller numbers are for lighter periods but are shorter pads. The higher numbers are for the heavier blood flow and their longer as well. 
Panty liners are for light spotting for ovulation as well as can be for the beginning/ end of your period. 
I’d get a pack of flushable wipes as well for sanitization; clean yourself up and flush away all that dried blood. 
Any pad is fine. It’s a trial and error type of thing. Try / test out different pads and brands to see which best suits you and your cycle(s)!

Hello Dear, im 26 years old and i got my first period at 15. My mother never taught me about sex, birth control or menstruation. So everything i learned had to be from school or my friends... or even the internet... i was overweight at 15 and i had a heavy flow with CRAZY CRAMPS. Sometimes at night i would cry it felt like i was giving birth... Anyways, my #1 recommendation is drink alot of HOT TEA, it helps cramps, stay away from coffe, milk, spicy foods, lemon, acidic foods... i was using THICK OVERNIGHT PADS since my flow was heavy and i would sometimes put 2 one behind the other because when i would sit the blood would leave to my buttock area.... As the years pass and i was no longer overweight my period got better  now its shorter, and not heavy, but i still drink alot of tea to reduce cramping, i use Cloths with HOT WATER TO RUB MY BACK and belly if i have cramps. IT helps like CRAZYY...

DEFINITELY check out these discs when you feel comfortable! They are much more comfortable than a tampon or pad. I found out about them at around 30 and I wish I had known about them my entire life. I tried the cups and didn't care for them. Discs are different. They literally changed my period for me. So comfortable (can't feel it in the slightest), no leaking. I've used these and the Flex brand discs. Both good!
I also recommend period underwear! I got 6 pairs from Thinx years ago. They give me an extra comfort knowing that if I happened to leak, it wouldn't make a mess. I wear the shorts to sleep in when I know my period is coming up, to avoid waking up covered in blood.

I love these more comfortable than pads and in the long run cheaper. I can't use tampons so these were awesome. There are different absorbency and even swimming suits.

Kotex, Always, and Stay Free are great brands! And if I were you id start off with a pad with wings so you can get more comfortable with putting the pad in a good place in your panties so you dont bleed through!

Go buy some pads. I prefer the longer ones especially for sleeping. It can take some time to figure out what you like and what works for you. Pads are a good place to start though. Grocery stores and pharmacies have lots of options.

I don't know about all the humanitarian aspect but 'Always' pads soak up blood well. They mark size by color. They're decently comfortable and flexible as well. I have tried the radiant line of theres a couple times but prefer the basic Always pads.
Panty liners, I prefer Kotex.
Staying hydrated always helps, especially around your period because you're losing blood. Staying hydrating helps for a healthier period. 
Movement can help with cramps. Feel free to look at foods that help with cramps. Ex. Our bodies often crave chocolate but that can increase cramp pain.
