Do you buy used strollers/car seats ?

I was on marketplace and saw a bunch of used car seats and strollers and thought to myself that maybe I should buy those instead of brand new. Some of them are still in good condition. What do you mamas do?

Absolutely not. Used car seats aren’t safe unless coming from a close friend or family member. You have no idea if that seat has been dropped or in an accident otherwise. It’s not worth a child’s safety to safe a couple bucks.

Never buy used car sears unless you know and trust the person selling it. You have no idea how it was taken care of and if it was in an accident or not. It's really just not safe to do. A stroller I wouldn't mind but you can buy a travel system that has the stroller and car seat together

Car seats need to be replaced after car accidents….. so I agree with others……. Best get new!

Yes you can check the expiration date and you can also have your local fire department check it, if it’s out of date I wouldn’t

I personally wouldn’t but I have no trouble affording a new one. If someone is really struggling, in my opinion, it’s better than not having one. I would advise at that point to try to get one from people you know and trust but also check the expiration dates. You just never know if they’ve been in an accident and that makes me nervous.

Yep. My car seat I bought was from marketplace. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. It's not expired and looks brand new. I wouldn't ever put my baby in I didn't personally think was safe. But as this is my fifth child, and my husband is the only one working at the moment, we just didn't have it in the budget for a nice new car seat. We might get one down the line but for now, the only time we'll be in the car are for his check ups. I'm a SAHM so we don't do any unnecessary driving around.
