Induction / Large baby

So I went for a growth scan today and they found that baby is estimated to be 8lb15oz I’m 39+6. The sonographer then referred me to talk with a doctor who has talked me into being induced on the 3rd October, (I’ll be 40+3)he was also trying to talk me into an elective c section which I find really unnecessary and scary . I have agreed to be induced because of the risks he spoke through with me but now I’m wondering whether I should of or just let baby come naturally? This Is my first baby and I’m aware that estimated weights can be off so I feel like it could all be for nothing especially if induction fails and it results in a C-section? What do you guys suggest? I’m so scared to be induced !!
