Why don't they let you hear the heartbeat in ultrasounds anymore?

When I was pregnant in 2014 with my now 7yo, I heard his heartbeat at every ultrasound. This time around, i was told they can't let me hear the heartbeat at my scan at 8w4d and even at my scan at 13w2d. Why don't they let you hear and see the heartbeat anymore?

That would be a policy for your practice specifically. I have heard heartbeat every ultrasound and the appts where I don’t have an ultrasound they use a Doppler to hear the heartbeat.

I dont remember if they let me hear his heart beat but I know they let me see it

31 weeks pregnant and have never heard the heartbeat with the ultrasound 
I have to go to my midwife and she will use a Doppler

My doctor doesn't do the Doppler at every appointment until 14-15 weeks so the only time I hear at the heartbeat is my first ultrasound...

Interesting… I’ve heard my baby’s heartbeat at every appointment (even as early as 7 weeks). Must be your OB office’s policy. That stinks hun. Hearing the heartbeat is part of the magic.
