After 40 weeks and no testing being done

I am past my due date which was 12/23. I asked about needing to get biophysical profiles or NST and the dr said as long as they don't suspect a problem I don't need one. I am scheduled to see him at the usual 1 week apt. Is this normal? I was under the impression that most baby's get checked out after the due date.
