Lasic eye surgery, have you ever had it and are you glad you did?

Question

In the beginning stages of looking into getting it!! Is this a good idea? I’ve heard good things from friends who got it! Any advice/pointers either way?

I had lasik done last March. Waking up with 20/20 vision was unbelievable. Now not everyone is guaranteed that. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to finally do it! My hubs saw how excited I was about it that he did it too.

My mom had it done last year. No regrets! I want lasik eventually as well. I've worn contacts since I was 12. I'm 31 now & over it lol

I did it in 2015 and it was the best decision ever! The thing is, I always got headaches from wearing glasses and my eyes are naturally on the drier side which made wearing contacts very uncomfortable. It’s an amazing feeling when you wake up in the morning and you can just see without squinting.

Not something I’d ever do personally. The risks outweigh the benefits. Wearing glasses doesn’t impede negatively on my life at all.

I had it 10 years ago and it was the BEST decision for me! I had pretty poor vision and I was very active..my glasses slipped down my nose all day and contacts did not play nice with my allergies. I will say that I MUST wear sunglasses in bright sunlight, but that is the only real change I’ve experienced other than 20/19 eyesight. With the amount of money I’ve saved on glasses and contacts alone the procedure has paid for itself many times over.

After working as an optometrist for 12+ years now i would never consider it. I see too many unhappy patients, with bad night vision, halos around lights, dry eyes, unstable visual acuity, not able to get new surgery due to thin corneas, problems with new glasses due to the chances in refraction, yeah the list goes on.

I wouldn’t get it until I’m much older because I heard it makes you far sighted and I would rather wear contacts than reading glasses.

I just did it in July. Eyes were great, first day after it was done was painful though. Now, my right eye is blurry again at longer distances, and I have to make an appt to see if it’s something wrong or what. I was really sick for the last 2-3 weeks, coughing, congestion, etc, so I’m hoping that had something to do with it and it’ll get better, but I’m worried bc I can feel the difference and it’s really distracting. Almost like there’s a film over my eye.
