He doesn’t think
I came home from picking my toddler up from spending some time with my parents. My husband was burning some small branches in our fire pit. The fire pit is actually a gigantic concrete planter. My toddler and I sat down in two of the chairs away from the fire. She’s having a great time. I’m right there so she doesn’t get up and try to go near it. She is really good about standing away from things when you say they’re hot.
My husband starts putting leaves in the fire pit. I tell him that’s a terrible idea because they make a lot of smoke and ash! He shrugs me off and says “not really.” Just after he says that a red hot flake floats down and lands on top of my daughter’s head. I start swatting it away immediately. As I’m doing this something lands on my legs and burns. Another flake I’m guess. I jump while I’m getting the flake out of my daughter’s hair and picking her up at the same time. I’m like that’s the line time to go in the house. He tells me I’m overreacting and that it was our fault for sitting in the line of the wind. We were over 10 feet away from anything. I made sure she was in a safe spot to ooh and ahh at the colors. Everything was fine until he started throwing leaves on the fire. I know I’m at fault for even having her there but he sees nothing wrong with what he did.
