What are your home remedies for cleaning the carpet

What helps get rid of stains on the carpet how do you keep your carpet looking good keep it fresh clean the stains can be from anything because people wear shoes indoors and whatever is on the shoes is getting on the carpet like mud. Some coffee, hot chocolate has spilled on the carpet I'm just wondering how to clean up the carpet we had a laundry detergent that spilled on the carpet and left a stain I thought it would have cleaned the stain out at least but it didn't so I'm wondering what works for you if there's stains or a dirty carpet.

I deep clean then with a Bissel once a year. Always worth it.

For spot cleaning a spill I clean it immediately using hot water and a shop vacuum. It works amazingly. For tough stains the same method but with folex then water. If I'm doing the whole carpet I borrow my MILs Bissell carpet cleaner.

I only have carpet downstairs and have lots of rugs since we have all wood/tile flooring upstairs 🥴 so we bought a shampooer from walmart, just whatever was on sale at the time, and then once a year we get them all professionally cleaned. With kids, and animals, it's honestly so worth hiring a professional to come do it. The shampooer can only do so much, even the ones you rent, so yeah it's great for a refresher, or an instant need to use. But to get down deep you need them to use the big stuff.

I use an old school floor cleaner machine (the one that has the bristles that spin). I make up a soapy liquid, put it on, run the machine over it, take a towel to soak up the liquid, then take another clean, damp towel to soak up the soap water. I presume it's not a carpet you can remove. I prefer this over the newer machines that suck up the water because this one actually has the the bristles that can loosen up the dirt in the carpet.
