Missed miscarriage

Had a scan after a gush of blood. Showed the fetus at around 4 weeks and of course no heartbeat. Unsure how to feel as the hospital won't confirm it as a loss until a 2nd scan in 12 days. They said as they wouldn't see a heartbeat at 4weeks! Ok, but I'm currently 9 weeks & 5 days pregnant so clearly baby isn't ok. They wouldn't accept that reasoning for mainly legal reasons. Since the initial gush I've had mainly pink spotting, no blood, no pain, no clots. This would have been baby number 6. I just don't know to feel. But the false hope by the doctor is just making it all so much worse.
