Toothpaste for a 2 yr old?

Question

My toddler first of all HATESSS brushing his teeth! I literally have to hold him down and I feel soo badd :(
Now toothpaste… is it safe to use a tinyyyy amount of FLUORIDE FREE toothpaste for a 2 year old? This is the one I have, it even says safe to swallow..

I just KNOW my son will swallow it lol and doesnt know how to spit it out yet!
Wondering what other 2 year old moms are doing! Some dentists telll me just water is fine, others say toothpaste is fine too!
Do you brush day and night like an adult with a tiny bit of toothpaste orr?

It's fine if he swallows a little. You're supposed to used toothpaste as soon as they have teeth. All three of mine were using toothpaste at 6 months (which is when they all got their first teeth.) 
Have you tried using an electric toothbrush? All three of my kids went through a phase where they hated having their teeth brushed and getting an electric toothbrush solved the issue for two of them and made brushing their teeth "fun" for them.

Fluoride toothpaste is recommended for all ages now.
You just use a rice grain size until they learn how to spit. Once they can spit, use a pea sized amount. 
My daughter has been using fluoride toothpaste since 8m old.

Honestly, we make up songs that our son brushes his teeth to. They’re literally so dumb, don’t rhyme, and it’s the same like 2 lines over and over, but it helps him  get the job done.

I recently went to our first dentist app with my 14 month old and they told me to use a regular adult toothpaste with fluoride and only to use a tiny tiny amount. Like less than a grain of rice. It’s okay to be swollowed

I’m a dental assistant. I use a tiny amount of toothpaste with fluoride, the little bit they swallow is not going to bother them and fluoride is important to me. We don’t have it in our water here

My 2 year old has always hated tooth brushing too
Pediatrician told us give her a tiny tiny bit of fluoride toothpaste in the morning. Ever since she was 1
And fluoride-free at night, that one is safe to swallow some
We just have to hold her down and brush, only way it will get done. Singing used to distract her but she doesn’t care anymore lol
Now that she’s older, I’ll put some fluoride-free toothpaste on her toothbrush and hand it to her. She likes to “brush” her own. Or we sometimes do just water for that. She will do it several times a day (which is funny she used to HATE seeing her toothbrush)
We do brush her teeth ourselves once in the morning and once at night tho

We have used a small amount of  fluoride toothpaste since my daughter was 1 at the direction of our pediatric dentist since we have well water.

Get some Toms of Maine toothpaste. the flavor my son likes is called silly strawberry. It’s safe to use flouride toothpaste on even babies now a days. It’s already in your drinking water most likely. But yeah, he will get used to it. I also second the electric toothbrush get one specifically made for little ones. My son is on the spectrum and he can’t stand tooth brushing but the electric toothbrush helped us a lot in the early days.

A lot of communities put fluoride in the drinking water. Just FYI. I have well water and an ro filter at home so we use fluoride toothpaste because it's good for their teeth.
