How many blasts?

First time ivf.  30 year old eggs, husband is 38 with no male factor that we know of at this point.  Going this route due to really low amh.   No other diagnosis on my end. Had a full term pregnancy about a year ago.  8 mature eggs after retrieval.  6 fertilized.  Should hear my day 5 report tomorrow & I’m incredibly anxious.   I’m so scared I’ll get no blastocysts. In anyones experience what’s an average number to expect?   I’m trying to be hopeful but so hard not to brace myself for bad news as it’s been a rough year eith all of this. Appreciate any insight/advice!

We were both 32. Unexplained. Icsi. 10 eggs, 8 mature and fertilizes, 1 blast. Fresh transfer. She is now fussing next to me (1 month old baby girl).

So we had a similar yield as you (in terms of eggs retrieved and fertilized) on our first go around that resulted in no blasts. But then we did another round which resulted in another 6 fertilized eggs— all made it to day 5 and 4 of them were PGT-A normal. So two very similar egg retrievals with two very different results. The whole process is such a guessing game; I think that’s the hardest part. Statistically speaking, 3 or 4 of yours should make it to blast! Positive thoughts and positive vibes being sent your way. We actually just had our first FET baby girl on Friday 🥰. It’s a long road, but it’s all worth it, as cliche as it sounds! Please update us!

First round for me. I was 30! Husband 32. We were in the unexplained category. 10 eggs retrieved 8 mature. We didn’t do icsi so we ended up with 4 fertilized. 2 blasts. Transferred 1 fresh. He’s now 2.5 years old, we went back in October of 21’. I was 32. Our remaining embryo ended in a chemical. 
Took some time off to heal and did another round of ivf in April/May. We did icsi this round. 18 eggs retrieved. 9 mature. 7 fertilized. 4 made it to blasts (3 good quality 1 fair). Transferred 1 fresh. Currently 29w4d with another baby boy.

I had very similar to you! 30 years old with Low reserve, retrieved 20, 11 fertilized, 7 made to blast, and 4 pgt normal. Don’t stress yourself, you sound like you have normal and good numbers for what is normally expected!

I was 27 for my 1st retrieval, 28 for my 2nd and 3rd. PCOS and Endo w/ autoimmune factor (NKa). No male factor- hubs is 10 yrs older. Normal AMH now (ovarian drilling prior to IVF). 
1st round, 10 retrieved, 9 mature, 9 fertilized, 4 5-day blasts. No PGT. Transferred 3/4; fresh and 2 FET. MC and 2 failed implantations. 
2nd round, 11 retrieved 7 mature, 1 day 7 blast PGT normal. Still frozen.
3rd round, 11 retrieved, 7 mature, 3 blasts (1 day 5, 2 day 6). 2 PGT normal. 1 live birth; 1 still frozen. 
At your age it's typically 40-50% to blast then 50% normal. As you see from my results, I had really good luck with normal embryos despite my diagnoses. I know it's hard not to get tied up in numbers and stuff. I did IVF for ~2.5-3 years, and been in many of the groups on here. All I can tell you is that it is truly a gamble. I've seen people get 50 eggs and get 0 embryos. I've seen people have 1 embryo & it be PGT normal and a live birth (in some cases even twins). Unfortunately, the first round is often the one where we learn lessons. Protocols are especially important as the wrong one can have a detrimental impact & we just never know how we'll respond.
Having said all of that, I think you're having a pretty normal outcome per your age, especially having low AMH. Hang in there and good luck!

I’m 39, had my first cycle with one egg retrieved. It was successfully fertilized and made it to blast but was chromosomally abnormal and discarded. I was crushed. I was at work when I got the call and immediately went to find one of my team leaders because I knew I was about to break down. I found a female supervisor and told her I’d just received some upsetting medical news and needed to call my husband right away. She suggested I step outside to make the call while she gets the paperwork so that I could leave early. I didn’t even ask to leave early, so that was really nice of her. One of the biggest challenges they had during retrieval was that fibroids were blocking the path to my ovaries, so I’ve scheduled an open myomectomy for early December. One of the store leadership members actually helped me start a leave of absence claim. They’re all so nice and supportive there. I really love where I work!

I was 29 with our first ivf. Usually 30% make it to freeze. With 6 I would transfer 2. You might not have any make it to freeze- or 1-2 hopefully 🙏🏻 If it were me that’s what I would do. 
With our first we had 14 embryos and transferred 2. And got twins. None of my blasts made the thaw. 
So it’s not just if they make it to freeze- it’s if they survive the freeze you know. 
We just did it again 9 yrs later and I had 27 eggs, 20 embryos and 6 made it to blasts- transferred 1 because they wouldn’t let me do 2 from high estrogen from having so many eggs. I’m getting positive tests! Dont go in first beta until Friday. 5 made to freeze. So that’s like 20% so if that happened for you you would have 1 to freeze. That’s why I say transfer 2! 
Twins were so fun! I’d do it again! 
It’s a crazy roller coaster of emotions but it’s exciting to be this close to being pregnant! Your almost there!
