Does finding out the gender help you bond more?

Question

Last time around we waited until birth to find the gender (my decision) but this time around I think I’d quite like to know, 1) to prepare our little girl for either a brother or sister and 2) because I feel like I’m struggling to bond without knowing anything about this baby. My partner is dead set on waiting until birth again even though last time he wanted to find out but let me have my own way, I promised this time it’d be his decision. So my question is, once you found out the gender were you able to build a stronger bond with your child?

I found it did, because I could imagine better what our baby would be like more when they arrive. We could decide on a name and planning nursery decor etc. It definitely made it more real for me

We found out gender for babies 1 and 2 but kept it very private which was lovely for us. For baby 3 I wanted to try the surprise, since we had one of each gender anyway. For some reason was convinced it was a boy but she is indeed a girl lol. I wouldn't say I didn't bond with with her, I loved her right away and was delighted for my daughter.... but it took some adjustment postpartum. I guess I had just envisioned our family differently. For baby 4 due in May we are definitely finding out! It's really hard when your partner wants differently though.

It is our first and once we found out we both felt more attached. We are able to try out names, make some different plans for nursery and picture when she would be with us. That is just us! My cousin is waiting until birth.

I have always found out the gender with my kids. Personally though, I find that I don’t feel that deep bond until I can feel the baby later on.. then I feel comfortable speaking to the baby, kind of holding the baby.. I’ve never been one to feel that deep connection right away to be honest. Maybe in the beginning it doesn’t feel real? But I don’t think the gender has ever had anything to do with it!

I mean with all my kids 3 and 1 (girls) and this baby girl I've felt a strong bond soon as I got my positive pregnancy test so finding out they're girls didn't make it stronger bc it was already strong from the beginning but it might help u tho bc very mother bond works differently hope this helps in some way😊💕

Ivote finding out if you have a strong gender preference!
With my daughter I knew from the moment I got those two pink lines that she was a girl so when my husband wanted to find out I didn't mind because I already knew haha. With my second and third pregnancy I desperately wanted another girl and planned to find out so that if it was a boy I could bond and get over gender disappointment before the birth. Unfortunately both these pregnancies ended in miscarriages.  This time I am so thrilled to finally have a healthy and happy baby that I couldnt care less about the gender so we aren't going to find out (but I suspect it's another girl haha)

I had a surprise with my first and found out with my second. For me it didn't help bonding and it took some of the magic away from the birth day. That doesn't mean it will be your experience though! Just sharing mine x
