Maternity photos?

I'm a first time mom, and I'm not sure about maternity photos. My initial reaction is to just skip a maternity session altogether because I don't know when/what I would use the photos for. We are not doing a formal pregnancy announcement since we have told most of our families a few at a time, and we don't plan to post online anything about our pregnancy/baby for privacy reasons. We are, of course, planning on doing a newborn/family session when baby is here. But should we do maternity photos? Why or why not?

Maternity photoshoots are expensive where I live (I was quoted $400-600) and I couldn't justify the price, so I asked a friend to take a few photos of my husband and I at the park and that worked just fine.

I took mines because I wanted that keep sake just little memory to hold on to I didn’t post them and I didn’t spend hundreds of dollars because I took em at home but if not taking any doesn’t affect you then just skip it🤷🏽‍♀️

Ok this is just my experience. I was pregnant with my first and he only lived about 15 minutes after I had him. It was unexpected and has been very difficult. I look back on our maternity photos and it brings me back to a time when everything was perfect. Nothing was wrong and we felt complete. You will have those memories a lifetime, in my opinion take them!

I think it’s a decision everyone makes based off their own preferences. Some ladies are so beautiful and stunning during pregnancy and they love being pregnant so it’s understandable why they want to capture it, or they’ve been through so much to get pregnant that they want to capture the moment they prayed for. 
For me,  I’m not a glowing smiley pregnancy person. I’m a sweatpant, oversized T-shirt don’t talk to me about my pregnancy person, lol. I just don’t flourish in pregnancy. So for me the pictures weren’t necessary because it’s not a time I need to capture. I love newborn phase and photos so we decided to go big in that department instead.

Just as memories of you holding that baby and embracing the few last weeks of baby in womb. I would do it and they don’t have to be extravagant

I got them because I thought hey maybe I’ll never be pregnant again and I wouldn’t regret getting them but I might regret not doing it 
However, I really think i could have skipped it

Best thing I ever done!!  For me, photos are memories and I think it's absolutely worth paying a professional for beautiful photos that will be a memory forever.

Pregnancy is not a great time for me. There are very few moments I look back on fondly, and honestly I don’t feel attractive. It’s a no for me
