mirena iud period?

This is my first time having any birth control and I have the mirena iud. I got my iud inserted on Oct. 18th and my bleeding started on Oct. 25th. I’ve been bleeding for 22 days now. I just want to know if that’s normal or something I should bring up with my gynecologist. I would also like to hear other women’s experience with the mirena iud so I have some idea of what to expect.

I bled on and off for 6 month, that’s normal with those. And then it stopped my periods completely. Took 10 months after removal to get a normal period and get pregnant

Yes, it’s normal. I’m surprised your doctor didn’t explain this to you. You could be bleeding/spotting for a whole six months.

Completely normal, you body has to get used to the bc.
When I had on I  bled continously for about 6 weeks then on and off for the next 6 weeks and then they were gone with the odd spotti g once every 6-7 months

Its pretty normal that you are feeling this way. Some people bleed up to 6 months. Im surprised that your doctor didnt really say much about it to you... Theyre supposed to. I hope things get better for you. If it doesnt feel right to you you might wanna check with your gyno and maybe go to towards a different type of birth control.
