iud cramps

i have had my iud for about 8 months and my period has still been very irregular. not really even a period it’s more light spotting here and there. recently the last two months i have had weird cramping and it doesn’t feel like a usual menstrual cramp. the past couple days the cramp feels like an uncomfortable wave of pain that goes throughout my stomach. sort of feels like a shock? it’s hard to explain lol. i’ve been think about getting it out next time i see my doctor and was seeing if anyone else has had a similar experience? i wanted to like the iud so much but it’s been giving me a lot of side effects. i’ve had horrible hormonal acne out of no where and it just feels uncomfy. not sure if i feel comfy just using condoms as protection so i’m at a crossroads. does anyone have a birth control method that they prefer? low dose pill options?
