Im scheduled to get an HSG after my next cycle starts and im getting a little antsy. Some people say it was the worst pain of their lives, and others felt like it was nothing more than a light period cramps. Im curious to hear about others experiences so I can be prepared and know what to expect. Were you prescribed antibiotics or got an infection from it?

I just had one a few weeks ago. It stung for a couple seconds when they injected the dye, but otherwise it was fine. Light cramps afterwards. No where near as bad as an IUD. You'll be fine! Very quick and easy.

Mine was really bad bc I have a cervix that’s almost impossible to reach and my uterus is long and tilted so I had to get in a weird position with my legs pushing on my stomach to get a clear image. It was not pleasant and also I think a rare case. The dr said he never has this much trouble. I had bad cramps after- like stabbing cramps. Make sure you take a 800 Motrin before!

I was so nervous too. Both of my tubes were blocked and I wouldn't even rate it as a 2-3 on the pain scale. You'll do great! It's over before you know it.

Just had mine last month and i forgot to take ibuprofen and i should have.  The procedure is quick but it is painful.  Tears rolled out my eyes and i just kept trying to control my breathing.  My doctor kept talking to me the whole time and encouraging me to breathe but NOT to move.  I did have bleeding after it as well.  Everyone is different & some have a high pain tolerance.  Just be sure to take pain meds before and i think you will be fine. ✨✨✨

I had one about a month ago. It wasn’t bad at all. But I have heard it hurts especially for women with blockages. As for me , it was a breeze . But I did bleed for a straight week afterwards.

Doctor warned me not to kick him and I thought he was joking but then felt a sharp pain and realized he was being completely serious. It wasn’t fun at all but was also quick. Frankly, I’ve been through hell and back on my infertility to ferility journey. The HSG is a minuscule blip in the context of everything else. Wishing you an easier road! Advice: don’t sweat the small stuff. Take some pain killers as others have said and you’ll be fine. XO

Honestly it was not nearly as bad as I had in my mind that it would be. I took 600 Tylenol N hour before. It was more uncomfortable than painful in my opinion

Mine didn’t hurt at all, they told me to take ibuprofen an hour ahead of time and there weren’t any complications afterwards either

Not painful at all and it was over in like 5 minutes. A lot of women seem to get themselves worked up over an HSG. You can take Ibuprofen before it you think something might hurt but it's a test that doesn't require anesthesia.
