Can you ovulate later on a increased dosage of clomid?

Chae

First time I took clomid, I did the 50mg, took it on cycle days 5-9 and ovulated on cycle day 18 (got highs and positive opks on cd 16&17). So I did ovulate on my first round but did not get pregnant.

Since I did not get pregnant, my obgyn increased my dosage to 100mg and told me to take it cycle days 3-7 to try to cause a earlier ovulation. I am now on cycle day 15 and I have no signs of a positive opk or lh surge. Also, I went in for a follicle scan on cd 13 and I had only one dominant follicle and it was about a 11mm (doc said it should be bigger than this at this point).

Is it possible to go up a dosage on clomid but ovulate later or around the same time as the lower dosage? Kinda of disappointed that its not making me ovulate sooner. Already feeling like this cycle is a failure. Maybe I’ll try letrozole next cycle.

Opks do not determine/confirm ovulation. They just detect a surge in LH. Did you have a progesterone check to ensure ovulation truly occurred. As for days and dosage, taking the medication on certain days can change what result your looking for, better egg quality or quantity. Just because you take the medication earlier or the dosage gets increased doesn’t necessarily mean it will change ovulation day. Ovulation can occur whenever regardless the day and dosage. The medication just assists with ovulation, so as long as you ovulate that cycle it’s a success. I’ve done 21 medicated cycles all different days and different dosage and ovulation has been between CD14- CD25.

I never ovulated on 50 or 100mg and did ovulate on cycle day 15 on 150mg got pregnant that cycle but unfortunately I lost the baby at 6 weeks back in October this year. I was on my 5th cycle on clomid. Tomorrow will be my last day to take clomid (150mg)

I would assume you didn’t ovulate that’s what happened to me on letrozole keep testing maybe you will ovulate late but seems not likely
