How did you know your house was "the one"

My husband and I are hunting for our first home. We've seen a few and none of them have really like, been obvious that yes, this is the one.

We saw on today which he LOVES. It needs a lot of work which doesn't seem to put him off (yet it put him off the house I loved). It will need a second bathroom, a carport or garage, a complete new kitchen, a new front wall plus gate plus a garden overhaul. The house I loved, it just needed a second bathroom and third bedroom and a garden overhaul.

He's obsessed with the area this house is in, whereas I want to be closer to my family.

I don't know. How do you decide?
