How do I love my sweet yet frustrating mother in law? She can be so sweet and yet at the same time, do things that drive me crazy!

She is very overbearing when it comes to raising my son. She acts like it’s her baby sometimes. She kept pressuring me to do things I thought weren’t good for my son. And kept calling to tell us we shouldn’t let him wear mittens on his hands. Even though he had horrible eczema and would scratch & bleed.

She also says embarrassing things, like she has no filter. Talking about if I sleep naked with my husband (her son). And she doesn’t knock before opening our bedroom door. My husband was naked one time and she just walked right in unannounced. It was very embarrassing. She talks through closed bathroom doors. And she pushes and pushes her ideas until she gets what she wants.

But yet she can be so kind, loving, sweet and just a wonderful person! My husband loves his mom and cares about her. I truly want to be a good daughter in law and wife. But I find myself getting annoyed when I know she’s calling or coming to visit.

How can I deal with this? For those of you who are Christians, what would be your response?
