im 22, hes just turned 20 a month ago.

We’ve been talking for a week, maybe, and have now thrown around plans to meet for a first date.

He told me, before anything, that he needed me to know he was in a toxic ex relationship which scarred him. I told him i was willing to hear him out, to which he informed me his ex had verbally and mentally abused him. but.

and this is a big but.

during one of their arguments, he told me she got in his face, and in a moment of fear (he said he couldnt take it anymore) he smacked her across the face. He promised me its totally unlike him, and he’d never do that to a partner again. He also said he needed to tell me in case she contacted me, should we continue the relationship.

I don’t know what to think. I did really like his company and was looking forward to possibly pursuing something more serious, but with this information, i can only say i feel very, very uneasy. I dont know how to proceed. On one hand, he was honest, but he also physically hurt his ex girlfriend.

Please help, we are supposed to go out Wednesday for lunch.
