Am I in the wrong?

Question

So my husband wants to take our son on a 2 hour car ride one way and I told him no. 
 A little backstory: our son is 16 months old and we live two hours away from friends/family. He wants to go down this weekend to hang out for a bit and wants us all to go but I’m 34 weeks pregnant and don’t want to be in a car for that long. Well he said him and our son can go and I can have some time alone. Which is fine with me but here’s my issues, he’s had a cough and runny nose, plus if I’m home why would we stick him in a car for 4 hours round trip? I want them to get time alone, and for our son to be able to play with other kids but it doesn’t seem fair to him to have to be in a car seat that long when he doesn’t have to be. 
My husband likes to point out that I take our son on trips frequently alone and he’s in the car for about 3 hours total but I only do that because I don’t have a choice. When I do go out I do it when I have to and I have to take our son because my husband is sleeping since he works 3rd shift. I feel like an asshole but I’m not trying to consider how I feel or how my husband feels. I only try and consider what’s best for our child

Yes, youre in the wrong. Whether there’s a choice or not, you take him on 3 hour trips, why can’t your husband take him on a 2 hour ride to visit family? Sounds like you feel left out & don’t want to be alone, but you’re also the one choosing not to go

So you're telling me you're ok doing FREQUENT 3 hour trips, but won't let him drive 2 hours, stay for the weekend, then drive back? It's not like your son will be in a vehichle for 4 hours straight, and even if so what's one more hour compared to your three?? Sounds like there is a bigger issue here. If you were so concerned about your child well being I think the bigger issue should be about his health and if he would be good enough to even go, not the drive.

If he wasn’t sick, I don’t see the problem. His dad should take him on trips and outings. But he is sick, so it’s not appropriate this time

The only problem I see is him being sick. The only reason I wouldn’t let him go is because I wouldn’t want him to get anyone else sick. But as his father, he shouldn’t have to ask you to take his son anywhere or you give him “permission”. It’s both y’all’s kid, not just yours.

If the kid is sick he needs to stay home, that should be the point here.
If you take the kid on 3 hr rides a 2 hr ride why couldn't he go on a 2 hr drive with his Dad?

Yes, you’re in the wrong. My kids have traveled anywhere from 4 to 18 hours to visit family, since they were babies, and yes I was pregnant some of those times. My kids travel very well because of it. You’re being selfish.
