Piercing

I know piercings are a touchy topic to some but my question is my daughter already has ear pierced but she wants her cartilage pierced. She is not interested in her second holes just one cartilage piercing.. I’m glad she is older to voice what she wants. And thank goodness it is not her belly button she’s asking for!

What age is appropriate to get her cartilage done? She has hit puberty but not yet a teen.

I did talk to her about the importance of cleaning and the soreness and sleeping on it but girlie is not budging. Is there a certain age she needs to be

I think the main issue with age is most places have an age restriction for anything other than lobe piercings, at least in my area, 12/13 is usually the age tattoo shops will do other ear piercings so you need to research what shop you want to go to and call and ask if they have an age restriction first. I personally think 12/13 is an appropriate age for this piercing anyway.PLEASE do not take her anywhere like Clair's. Piercing guns are awful. Piercings should be preformed by licensed artists with proper equipment in a proper shop.

Idk I got both my cartilages pierced at 13, at 16 I got my belly pierced, and at 17 my mom and I got our noses pierced together. My mom viewed it all as a scale of maturity. I got straight A’s, was president of my school’s National Honor’s Society, and never snuck out or lied about where I was going or what I was doing so she let me express myself when I wanted a little piercing here or there. I took my nose piercing out around 23, I had already graduated college and had worked a job as a tech writer for a government contracting agency. They didn’t care about the nose ring but I didn’t wear it on the interview and I asked their policy after the fact. My belly button i still have mainly because my husband likes it but I’ll have to take it out soon as I’m pregnant. You know your daughter and her maturity level. There’s nothing wrong with self expression especially when you have a self aware, mature kid. All this to say that places are also getting over the taboo-ness that previously surrounded piercings professionally as well.

I got mine done at 12/13, but it’s definitely your call as her parent! My mom was super strict about piercings, the only thing she didn’t care about was the ears. Just make sure you take her to a tattoo shop! The gun is really not safe for cartilage piercings

Your decision as a parent! I got my cartilage pierced at 13. It was my gift for getting a scholarship to high school. Honestly my mom would have let me get it done earlier because she knew she could trust me to care for a piercing, but it was against my school dress code.I think if your daughter is responsible and knows what she needs to do to keep it clean, and you’re comfortable with her getting a new piercing, go for it! Just go to a reputable piercer, not a mall shop that uses a gun.
