Hi. First time mom and 38 weeks+1 day today. I had a prenatal appointment this morning at 9:20a.m. I have not had my cervix checked at all until today because nothing has happened to my body where I haven’t had any signs of labor . No contractions, Braxton hicks, blood, etc so I never felt the need to be checked.

But this morning at 2a.m and 6a.m I was leaking “fluids”. I was just lying in bed and felt something leak out onto my panti liner . Went to the bathroom to Check and it was clear like water/ no smell.

Went to my appointment, told the Dr, Dr said they had to check my cervix due to the fluid. After checking she said I wasn’t dilated at all, but a little effaced so she said it was probably just watery discharge.

I went to run some errands all day afterwards . Hurt to walk a bit but nothing major.

I got home at about 1:30p.m, used the restroom and felt a glop of something fall in the toilet and then even more came out so I wiped and this is what I saw.( Look at the pictures)

Clear jelly like consistency, and a little tiny part of it had some light tan color to it. Is this normal after a cervical check? Or did she the Dr make part of my cervical mucous come off?

Like I said before, absolutely nothing has happened to me besides some cervix pain here and there. He’s been head down for months, my belly has been dropped for days- weeks now, and he’s head butted me in the cervix a couple of times, but nothing has ever came out of me.

I haven’t had anything come out of me like this my entire pregnancy until today after my cervical check. Other than that I’m not cramping or bleeding but I’ll keep an eye on it. Just wanted opinions.

UPDATE:

I gave birth the day after on Dec 21st ,2022 at 11p.m!! This was the beginning of my water breaking and mucous plug coming out piece by piece! First it started off like clear jelly like the pictures above and then a few hours after more of my mucous plug came out onto my panti liner (confirmed by nurses and doctors at hospital when I showed them the pictures I took). It was a light tan colored glop that came out of me at 7:30p.m Dec 20th,2022.

I had no signs of labor at all besides my mucous plug coming out and feeling bits of fluid leak out of me but by bit throughout the day as I walked around and did my errands. I had a feeling it was my water but when the Dr told me I was 0% dilated, I thought it couldn’t be possible but SHE WAS WRONG!! I finally realized I was right when I was at Walmart at 7p.m and had to pee. Once I left the bathroom doors I felt fluid leak out of me again, and the more I walked more came out. That’s when I told my husband we got to go! Went home and the fluid wasn’t a lot but enough to leak through my panti liner and my pants to leak a wet spot.

I showered, ate a meal, got in the car, and we headed to the Hopsital and I was admitted at around 11p.m Dec 20th. The nurses checked my cervix and told me I was 1.5 cm dilated, but bcus of the fluid leaking they did a test to see if it was my water breaking. Sure enough the test came back showing that my water ruptured and they told me “ we’re having a baby today!”. I was at risk for infection since it was almost 24 hours of my water breaking.

I labored naturally till 4cm until my body wouldn’t progress, had to be induced , got an epidural, and gave birth to a healthy baby boy Dec 21st at 11p.m !!

Just a tip: Make sure they check that there is no bits and pieces of the amniotic sac blocking your cervix! I labored pretty quick to be from a 0 to full on natural and active labor in one day but it would’ve been quicker had the nurses checked if my cervix was clear . I was stuck at 4-6cm for so long and once a new nurse came in she said that I had a piece of the sac blocking my cervix which wasn’t allowing me to dilate further. Once she removed that I jumped from 6-8cm within like 10 minutes.
