If you were getting a scheduled csection for medical reasons, did you get to choose the date - in a way?

My OB and I have been talking about scheduling a csection around when I'm 39 weeks due to the severity of complications I had when I delivered my first baby. I truly wish you didn't have to deliver a baby for you to get a baby lmao-  my other option if not csection is induce around 35/36 weeks and I really want baby to bake more. I'd ideally want the csection done at 39 wks+2 days but for a silly-non-medical reason. Would they let me choose to push back my csection 2 more days? Or how does scheduling a csection like that work?

I didn’t get to choose for either. First was 39+1 and the next is scheduled for 39 exactly

It depends! My first was a scheduled CS for breech. I was allowed to pick any day between 39 and 40 weeks (except the weekend, when they didn’t schedule CS routinely), so I chose 39+2. My second was going to be a repeat CS and I was given the same 39-40 week option as with my first, but I was at a completely different OB office. They just really don’t want you to go into labor before the CS because it complicates the surgery. So if you’re not high risk of going into labor earlier or there’s not a problem (like high risk of cord prolapse, etc.), then you may get to pick! It also depends on availability, so I would try to ask if you can schedule sooner. 🙂
May I ask though - why would the induction need to be so much sooner?

Depends. I had no option with our first and had about 18 hours notice. Our second, we had an appt on Friday and they asked if we’d like to have a baby on Monday. Sure! We weren’t picky. 
I do know someone with a super high risk pregnancy and delivery who had ridiculous reasons. Doctors said Monday. She said baby doesn’t like Mondays. Doctors said Tuesdays. She said her husband had to play frisbee golf. So they scheduled it for Wednesday. She ended up going into labor Tuesday night that progressed quickly and had a far more stressful c-section than had she just scheduled it for Monday like the doctors first suggested.

I had my c section at 39w 2d !! My baby was breech. I wanted 2/22/22, but they were booked that day so we did the day before 😅

They let me choose for mine frank breech between 39-40 weeks. Which ended up not mattering anyways because I went into labor before then anyways! Can’t tell this child what to do
