Should I text him Happy New Year

I kicked him out around Thanksgiving and we haven’t really talked. He’s still upset because of what I said to him. I miss him and love him but I don’t want to start the new year off being ignored. We’ve been through a lot I just don’t want to be on bad terms. He did text our kids but he’s been avoiding me
