Laboring with an ICD

Hello,

I’m only 6ish weeks so I haven’t had a chance to speak to my doctor about this yet. This isn’t my first baby, but it’s my first baby post Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) placement. I have Long QT Syndrome (a type of genetic heart arrhythmia).

I refuse to get an epidural during labor because when I had my first, it really messed up my back and I broke out in cold sores under my eye.

I gave birth to my 2nd and 3rd without anything to block pain and I do very well this way. Recovery was much easier too, so I would love to give birth without it again.

Does anyone here have an ICD and gone through labor? If so, what was your experience.
